- How do I apply for a Passport or Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)?
To apply for a fresh or re-issued Passport or PCC connect with our executives via helpline or email.
Note: All applicants, including infants, must be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) to provide their biometrics (fingerprints) and photographs and to follow the prescribed procedures.
- How is a minor defined for passport issuance purposes?
For passport applications, a minor is anyone under the age of 18.
- My baby is just one month old. Does my baby need their own passport, or can their name be added to one of my passports?
The practice of adding a child's name to a parent's passport is no longer allowed. Each minor now requires their own individual passport.
- If a minor’s father is overseas, is it necessary to get his consent for the child's passport application? What is the process?
Ideally, both parents or the legal guardian should sign Annexure 'D' when applying for a minor's passport to ensure the child's best interests are protected. Both parents should attend the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for the application. If only one parent is present, they must bring both parents' passports; the PSK officer may request the other parent’s presence if there are concerns about the signature on Annexure 'D'. If the other parent is abroad, the parent in India will sign the application and obtain consent from the other parent in Annexure 'D'. If it’s not possible to get this consent, a declaration with the reason, in the form of Annexure 'C', can be submitted.
- I’m 16 years old. Can I apply for a passport that is valid for 10 years?
Minors aged 15 to 18 have the option to apply for a passport valid until they turn 18 or a full-validity passport for 10 years. Fees vary depending on the passport’s duration.
- If parents have valid passports, but their background details are adverse in the passport database, can a passport be issued to minors on an urgent basis?
Yes, in such cases, minors can be issued passports under the Tatkaal scheme, subject to approval by the Competent Authority.
- What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my visit to the Passport Seva Kendra?
If you have a confirmed appointment but are unable to attend on the scheduled date, you can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to two times within the year from the original appointment date.
- My passport expired four years ago. Can it be reissued, and what is the process?
Yes, you can apply for a reissue of your passport by filling out the Passport Application Form. Since your passport has been expired for more than three years, a fresh police verification will be required.
- I recently lost my passport and have applied for a duplicate. Will the new passport have the same number as my old one?
Duplicate passports are not issued. Instead, you will receive a new passport with a different number and fresh validity.
- There is a spelling mistake in my name on my passport. What should I do?
It’s essential to ensure accuracy when filling out your details online. You can verify your information at Counter-A of the PSK/POPSK. If you find a mistake in the passport after issuance, return it to the Regional Passport Office for correction. If the correction is approved, a new passport booklet with a new number may be issued, and additional fees may apply based on the case. In some situations, you may need to apply for a reissue of the passport.
- I am preparing for official travel. How can I obtain a diplomatic or official passport?
